The A+ and Network+ tags follow the official CompTIA objective PDFs (220-1201 objective 2.1, N10-009 objective 1.4). Security+ SY0-701 has no port list of its own. The Sec+ tag marks ports that come up in its secure-protocol and hardening objectives (2.5, 4.1, 4.4, 4.5), such as choosing SSH over Telnet. "Beyond the lists" ports are context only.
IP protocol types (N10-009 1.4)
These ride directly on IP and use protocol numbers, not port numbers. A firewall rule for an IPSec VPN allows ESP (50) and AH (51) as protocols, plus IKE on UDP 500.
